Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Stable Hand to join our team for morning shifts. This role is ideal for individuals with a genuine love for horses and a strong work ethic. As a Stable Hand, you will be crucial in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our horses, maintaining clean and organized stables, and supporting daily equestrian operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily mucking out of stables and maintaining clean bedding.
  • Feed horses according to established dietary plans and schedules.
  • Provide fresh water to all horses throughout the day.
  • Turn out and bring in horses from paddocks safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with grooming, bathing, and basic horse care.
  • Monitor horses for any signs of illness, injury, or distress and report promptly to management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tack rooms, feed rooms, and general stable areas.
  • Assist with general yard duties, including sweeping, tidying, and equipment maintenance.
  • Support senior staff with handling horses for veterinary visits, farrier appointments, or training sessions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working with horses, ideally in a stable environment.
  • Ability to handle horses confidently and safely.
  • Strong understanding of horse behavior and welfare.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning shifts.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting and bending.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in equine studies or animal care.
  • Experience with specific horse breeds or disciplines.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Trailer driving experience and a valid license.
  • Knowledge of basic horse first aid.
