Job Description

As an Assistant Rig Manager in the Drilling Sector at Santos, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient and safe execution of drilling operations. Working closely with the Rig Manager, you will assist in overseeing daily activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, operational procedures, and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Rig Manager in planning, organizing, and supervising all drilling and well completion activities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company safety policies, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Oversee daily rig operations, including equipment maintenance, personnel supervision, and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and drills, promoting a strong safety culture among the crew.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate logistics for equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Mentor and train junior crew members, fostering their professional development.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in drilling operations, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in operational reporting and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and relevant industry certifications (e.g., IWCF Well Control).
  • Ability to work in remote locations and challenging environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with Australian regulatory frameworks for drilling.
  • Advanced well control certification.
  • First Aid and emergency response training.
  • Familiarity with digital drilling technologies and data analysis.
