Job Description
Services Australia is seeking an experienced and dedicated Records Management Lead to spearhead our vital records and information management strategies. This pivotal role involves overseeing the lifecycle of government records, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, and driving best practices across the agency. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs that uphold the integrity and accessibility of our information assets. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive records management policies and procedures in alignment with legislative requirements (e.g., Archives Act 1983).
- Lead and mentor a team of records management professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance.
- Oversee the management of physical and digital records throughout their lifecycle, including creation, capture, storage, retrieval, and disposal.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to staff at all levels on records management best practices, compliance, and systems usage.
- Manage records management systems, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and accessibility.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to standards.
- Develop and deliver training programs on records management principles and system usage.
- Collaborate with IT, legal, and operational teams to integrate records management requirements into business processes and new system developments.
- Prepare reports and briefings for senior management on records management performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in records and information management, preferably within a government context.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian records management legislation and standards (e.g., Archives Act 1983, ISO 15489).
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in records management systems (RMS/EDRMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Information Management, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Records Management (e.g., RIMPA Professional).
- Experience with specific government records management platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Objective ECM).
- Project management experience in an information management context.
