Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Public Transport Cleaners, focusing on trains and buses on the Gold Coast. This is a crucial night work role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our public transport fleet, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for passengers. You will work independently or as part of a small team during overnight hours, performing a variety of cleaning tasks to a high standard. This role is physically demanding and requires attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitisation of train carriages and bus interiors, including seats, floors, windows, and surfaces.
- Empty waste bins and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch areas such as handrails, door handles, and ticket machines.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean and maintain toilet facilities onboard trains and buses.
- Report any damage, maintenance issues, or safety hazards observed during cleaning to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.
- Operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies are used efficiently and stock levels are maintained.
Required Skills
- Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as per roster.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Understanding of health and safety practices.
- Valid Australian driver's licence preferred (for access to various depots if required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning, particularly in public transport or similar high-traffic environments.
- Familiarity with various cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Basic first aid certification.
