Job Description
Join Australia Post as a Parcel Sorter on our dynamic night shifts. This crucial role involves the efficient and accurate sorting of parcels and packages in our Gillman distribution centre, ensuring timely delivery to our customers. We offer high penalty rates for night work, acknowledging your dedication and commitment. This physically demanding role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be an integral part of our logistics team, contributing directly to Australia Post’s mission of connecting communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort parcels and packages according to destination and delivery routes.
- Load and unload freight safely and effectively.
- Operate manual handling equipment such as trolleys and pallet jacks (training provided if needed).
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Perform general warehouse duties as required, including cleaning and organisation.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet sorting deadlines and operational targets.
- Identify and report any damaged or misdirected parcels.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail during the sorting process.
Required Skills
- Ability to work consistently during night shifts (typically 10 PM – 6 AM).
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to lift heavy parcels (up to 25kg) repeatedly.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar physical role.
- Experience with manual handling equipment.
- Knowledge of Australia Post's operational procedures.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Gillman, South Australia.
