Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Assistant Farm Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in supporting the overall management and operational efficiency of one of our large-scale cattle properties within Western Australia. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Farm Manager, assisting in daily operations, staff supervision, livestock management, and property maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual looking to advance their career in large-scale agricultural management within a leading company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Farm Manager in the day-to-day operations of the property, including planning, scheduling, and execution of tasks.
  • Supervise and mentor farm staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to company standards.
  • Oversee livestock management, including health checks, feeding programs, rotational grazing, and breeding activities.
  • Manage and maintain farm infrastructure, including fences, watering points, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Implement and monitor property development plans, including pasture improvement and land rehabilitation projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of livestock, inventory, financial transactions, and operational activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant OH&S, environmental, and animal welfare regulations.
  • Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and cost control measures.
  • Operate farm machinery and equipment as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in large-scale livestock management, particularly cattle.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong understanding of pasture management and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining a range of farm machinery and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
  • Solid record-keeping and basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license and experience with heavy vehicles/trailers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • Experience with remote property management systems and technologies.
  • Current first aid certificate.
  • Experience with animal health protocols and low-stress stock handling techniques.
