Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Council Labourer to join our Parks team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking for steady, full-time work, Monday to Friday, contributing directly to the beautification and upkeep of Bathurst’s cherished parks and public spaces. You will play a vital role in maintaining our green infrastructure, ensuring our community enjoys pristine outdoor environments. No two days will be the same as you tackle a variety of tasks crucial to our operations, working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labouring duties, including manual handling, digging, and lifting.
- Assist with the maintenance of parks, gardens, and recreational areas, including mowing, weeding, planting, and pruning.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively (e.g., mowers, whipper snippers, blowers).
- Support the installation and repair of park infrastructure such as benches, fences, and playground equipment.
- Participate in routine inspections of park facilities and report any issues or hazards.
- Undertake waste management and litter collection to maintain cleanliness.
- Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Class C Driver's Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or general labouring.
- White Card (General Construction Induction Training).
- First Aid certification.
