Job Description
Join the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) as a Census Area Supervisor for our upcoming seasonal peak period. This vital temporary role is instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of our national data collection efforts within the Springwood area. You will be responsible for leading a team of field officers, managing fieldwork operations, and ensuring the accurate and timely collection of census data. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to public service. You will play a crucial part in gathering essential information that shapes Australia’s future.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of Census Field Officers within a designated geographic area.
- Monitor and manage fieldwork progress, ensuring targets are met and data quality standards are maintained.
- Conduct field visits to support and troubleshoot issues for Field Officers.
- Manage the distribution and collection of materials and equipment.
- Implement and enforce ABS operational policies and procedures.
- Address public enquiries and resolve fieldwork-related issues.
- Prepare regular progress reports and manage administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and security protocols for sensitive information.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using digital devices and basic computer applications.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to complete assigned duties during flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in fieldwork, data collection, or census operations.
- Knowledge of the local Springwood area.
- Experience in training and motivating staff.
- First Aid certification.
