Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Cattery Hand to join our dedicated team at Toowoomba Cattery & Kennels. This role offers flexible casual shifts, making it perfect for individuals looking for a part-time opportunity to work with animals. As a Cattery Hand, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our feline guests, ensuring they receive the attention, comfort, and hygiene they deserve. This is an entry-level position with easy-to-learn tasks, ideal for anyone with a love for cats and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feeding cats according to their dietary requirements and schedules.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting cat enclosures, litter trays, and common areas daily.
  • Monitoring the health and behaviour of cats, reporting any concerns to management.
  • Providing comfort, cuddles, and playtime to cats.
  • Administering medications as instructed by senior staff (after training).
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Assisting with general facility maintenance as needed.

Required Skills

  • A genuine love and empathy for animals, especially cats.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties such as bending, lifting (light), and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with animals (e.g., volunteer work, pet ownership).
  • Basic knowledge of cat behaviour and health indicators.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
