Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in the culinary world? Heyder & Shears Catering is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our kitchen team as a Catering Prep Hand. No prior experience is required – we’re looking for motivated individuals with a great attitude and a willingness to learn. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to develop their skills in a professional kitchen environment, working consistent Monday to Friday hours. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting our chefs and ensuring the smooth operation of our busy catering kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness, including washing dishes, sanitising workstations, and cleaning equipment.
- Receive, unpack, and store deliveries of food and supplies, ensuring proper rotation and storage according to health and safety guidelines.
- Support the culinary team during production, ensuring all items are prepared efficiently and to required specifications.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify senior staff of any shortages.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with waste management and recycling initiatives.
- Perform general kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
