Job Description

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Cadet Journalist to join our regional team in Mount Gambier, South Australia. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake structured training and mentorship programs to develop journalistic skills.
• Assist experienced journalists in researching, gathering information, and fact-checking stories.
• Learn to conduct interviews with sources, community members, and public figures.
• Write and produce content for various ABC platforms, including radio, digital news, and social media.
• Attend community events, press conferences, and court hearings as required.
• Develop an understanding of media law, ethics, and ABC editorial policies.
• Contribute to daily news production, including identifying local angles and breaking news.
• Operate basic broadcast equipment and digital publishing tools under supervision.
• Engage with the local Mount Gambier community to build contacts and identify story leads.
