Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Boat Yard Hand to join our team in Shepparton on a casual basis. This role involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of our boat yard, ensuring all vessels are handled with care and efficiency. While our Shepparton facility is inland, the work often involves preparing, maintaining, and moving boats destined for, or returning from, various coastal and inland waterways across Victoria. You’ll be an essential part of a dynamic team, contributing to the smooth running of our operations and helping deliver top-notch service to our valued customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and an interest in the marine industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the safe movement and positioning of boats within the yard and workshop using appropriate equipment.
- Perform general cleaning and detailing of boats (interior and exterior) to presentation standards.
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks such as hull cleaning, minor repairs, and anti-fouling preparation.
- Load and unload deliveries, ensuring correct storage of parts and accessories.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the boat yard and workshop areas.
- Support marine technicians with various tasks as required, including fetching tools and materials.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Operate yard equipment (e.g., pressure washers, trolleys) safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a workshop environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transport.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with boats or in a similar yard/warehouse environment.
- Forklift license.
- Knowledge of basic boat maintenance or detailing techniques.
- First Aid certification.
