The ACT City Services Directorate is seeking reliable and physically fit individuals to join our team as Casual Bin Collectors in the Belconnen district. Key Responsibilities
- Operate waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently along pre-determined routes.
- Collect and empty residential and commercial bins, ensuring all contents are properly secured.
- Manoeuvre bins and lifting equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Report any issues, such as overflowing bins, blocked access, or damaged equipment, to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.
- Work effectively as part of a team to complete daily collection schedules.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and local council regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting and repetitive movements.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety procedures.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence (HR class desirable but not essential).
- Australian working rights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste management or a similar physically demanding outdoor role.
- Knowledge of Belconnen and surrounding ACT areas.
- Heavy Rigid (HR) vehicle licence.
