Job Description

The Australian Electoral Commission is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as AEC Electoral Officers for Polling Place Support during upcoming electoral events. This temporary role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of polling places, providing essential support to voters and staff, and upholding the integrity of the electoral process. You will be part of a vital team responsible for administering democracy at the local level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and pack-down of polling place equipment and materials.
  • Provide information and assistance to voters on election day, including directing them to correct voting areas.
  • Support polling place staff with various administrative tasks and operational duties.
  • Maintain a calm, professional, and impartial demeanor at all times.
  • Ensure all electoral procedures and guidelines are strictly adhered to.
  • Handle voter inquiries and resolve minor issues with guidance from senior staff.
  • Contribute to a positive and accessible voting experience for all electors.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Availability to work long hours on election day and during pre-polling periods.
