Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and dedicated Pastry Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team at The Sebel Shepparton. This is a remarkable opportunity for a passionate pastry professional looking to elevate their career within a luxury hotel setting. Reporting directly to the Executive Pastry Chef, you will play a pivotal role in creating exquisite desserts, baked goods, and confectioneries that define our luxury brand. You will be instrumental in menu development, maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation, and leading a team of pastry chefs. This role is ideal for someone with proven leadership skills, a creative flair, and a desire for continuous growth in the fine dining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in the daily operation and management of the pastry section.
- Develop and implement new dessert menus, specials, and seasonal offerings, ensuring creativity and consistency.
- Oversee the production of all pastry items, including cakes, pastries, breads, chocolates, and plated desserts.
- Maintain strict adherence to hygiene, food safety, and sanitation standards in the pastry kitchen.
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry chefs, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage inventory, control costs, and minimize waste while ensuring high-quality ingredient selection.
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure seamless service for all dining outlets and events.
- Ensure all pastry presentations meet the luxury standards of The Sebel brand.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a high-volume, luxury hotel or fine dining pastry kitchen.
- Proven creativity and technical skill in all aspects of pastry and baking.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and presentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal culinary education or pastry apprenticeship.
