Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Residence Manager to lead the operations and community development within our university housing facilities in Devonport. This role is pivotal in creating a supportive, engaging, and secure environment for students. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of residence life, including student welfare, facility management, staff supervision, and program development, ensuring compliance with university policies and promoting a positive living and learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of student residential facilities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Manage and supervise a team of Residential Assistants (RAs) and support staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Develop and implement engaging residential life programs and activities that promote community building and student development.
- Respond to student welfare concerns, conflicts, and emergencies, providing appropriate support and referrals.
- Administer resident contracts, room assignments, and move-in/move-out processes.
- Collaborate with university departments, including student services, facilities, and security, to ensure integrated support for residents.
- Manage budgets, maintain accurate records, and generate reports related to residence operations.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and relevant health and safety regulations.
- Handle disciplinary matters and enforce residence hall policies fairly and consistently.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and coordinate maintenance and repair requests.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in student housing, residential life, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
- Proven ability to manage student welfare and crisis intervention.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and residential management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and respond to emergencies.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working within a university or college residential system.
- Knowledge of student development theories and best practices in residential education.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
