Job Description
Are you passionate about the Australian outback and eager to kickstart a rewarding career in agriculture? Elders Rural Services is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Stockman / Stockwoman Trainees to join our team in the Esperance region of Western Australia. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with little to no prior experience, offering comprehensive training in all aspects of stock handling, property maintenance, and general station operations. You will learn valuable rural skills firsthand, working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rural lifestyle, with accommodation and all meals provided as part of your employment package.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily care, feeding, and movement of livestock (cattle, sheep).
- Participate in mustering, drafting, and yard work activities.
- Learn and apply best practices in animal welfare and handling techniques.
- Conduct basic fencing repairs and maintenance on station infrastructure.
- Assist with general property maintenance tasks, including machinery checks and shed tidiness.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment under supervision.
- Contribute to the overall smooth operation of the station.
- Actively participate in training sessions and learn from experienced stockmen and women.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding outdoor tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Current Australian driver's license (manual preferred).
- Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn.
- Previous experience with horses or motorbikes (desirable but not essential).
- First Aid certification.
