Job Description
Are you a motivated surveying student eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic field environment? Veris Australia is offering a unique opportunity for a Surveying Assistant (Student) to join our Hervey Bay team. This temporary role is designed to provide you with invaluable real-world exposure to surveying methodologies, equipment, and project workflows. You will work alongside experienced surveyors, contributing to various projects and developing foundational skills essential for a successful career in the surveying industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors with setting up and operating surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS, and levels.
- Participate in data collection activities on various project sites, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Help with site preparation, including clearing vegetation and marking points.
- Maintain and clean surveying equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in field computations and data recording.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Learn and understand basic surveying principles and techniques through practical application.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Diploma program in Surveying, Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of mathematical concepts relevant to surveying.
- Strong willingness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment and in varying weather conditions.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some prior exposure to surveying equipment or software (e.g., through coursework or personal interest).
- Basic first aid certification.
