Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Veterinary Helper to join our dedicated team on a casual basis for day shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care who are looking to gain hands-on experience in a busy veterinary clinic. As a Veterinary Helper, you will provide essential support to our veterinarians and veterinary nurses, ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic and the comfort of our animal patients. Your role will involve a variety of tasks from maintaining a clean and safe environment to assisting with animal handling and administrative duties. This position requires reliability, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love for animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint and handling during examinations and treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas.
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Feed, water, and exercise animals under supervision, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to veterinary staff.
- Restock supplies and ensure all areas are tidy and organized.
- Assist with laundry and general upkeep of the facility.
- Provide compassionate care and attention to all animals in our care.
- Perform light administrative tasks as needed, such as filing or answering phones.

- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move animals and supplies safely.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals (e.g., pet sitting, animal shelter volunteer, farm work).
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Completion of a relevant certificate or course in animal care or veterinary assistance (not mandatory for this helper role).
