Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Lifestyle Assistant to join our dedicated team in Wollongong. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing engaging lifestyle programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents. You will work closely with residents, their families, and our care team to create meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, physical movement, and spiritual fulfillment. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of individual and group activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities.
- Engage residents in meaningful conversations and provide companionship.
- Assess residents' lifestyle preferences, cultural backgrounds, and care needs to inform activity planning.
- Document resident participation and responses to programs, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to integrate lifestyle programs into the overall care plan.
- Maintain a welcoming and stimulating environment within the residential care setting.
- Assist with special events, celebrations, and community outings.
- Support residents with mobility and personal care needs during activities as required.
- Encourage resident independence and choice in all aspects of their daily lives.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in aged care or a similar support role involving activity planning and facilitation.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs and challenges faced by older adults, including those with dementia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of others.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- National Police Check clearance (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Leisure and Health, or a related field.
- Experience with digital documentation systems.
- Knowledge of local community resources and services for older adults.
