Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as Local Government Staff – Community Impact. This role is pivotal in developing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that address community needs, promote social cohesion, and improve overall well-being across the City of Karratha. You will work closely with various departments, local stakeholders, and community groups to identify opportunities for impact and ensure our programs are responsive and effective. This is an exciting opportunity for someone committed to making a tangible difference in a dynamic regional setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with community members, groups, and stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities for community development.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of community programs, events, and initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of community impact strategies and frameworks.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community programs, collecting data and preparing reports on outcomes.
- Facilitate partnerships and collaborations with external organisations, government agencies, and local businesses.
- Contribute to grant applications and funding proposals for community-focused projects.
- Provide administrative support for community development projects, including record-keeping and communication.
- Represent the Council at community meetings and events as required.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
- Strong organisational and project coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of community development principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience working within a local government or not-for-profit setting.
- Experience in event planning and coordination.
- Knowledge of the Karratha region and its diverse community.
- Current Western Australian C-Class Driver's License.
