Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Tomato Greenhouse Hand to join our team in Truganina, Victoria. In this role, you will be crucial to the cultivation and harvesting of high-quality tomatoes within our advanced controlled environment greenhouses. You will work closely with our horticultural team to ensure optimal plant health, yield, and product quality. This is an on-site position requiring manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic greenhouse setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily crop maintenance tasks including pruning, trellising, de-leafing, and general plant care.
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, diseases, or nutritional deficiencies, reporting findings to supervisors.
- Harvest ripe tomatoes according to established quality standards and procedures.
- Operate basic greenhouse equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Assist with greenhouse cleaning and sanitation to maintain a hygienic growing environment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and quality assurance guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Capable of standing, bending, lifting (up to 15kg), and reaching for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in horticulture, agriculture, or a greenhouse environment.
- Familiarity with controlled environment agriculture (CEA) practices.
- Experience with hydroponic systems.
- Forklift license (preferred but not essential).
