Job Description

Are you ready to swap city lights for starry nights? AACo is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Jackaroo / Jillaroo Trainees to join our team for an immersive Outback Experience. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn the ins and outs of large-scale cattle operations. No prior experience is necessary; we’re looking for passionate individuals eager to contribute, learn, and live the authentic Australian outback lifestyle. This trainee program includes food and board, providing a supportive environment as you develop essential skills in animal husbandry, station management, and general farm operations. Based initially for induction and training in or near Port Macquarie, successful trainees will then be placed at one of our iconic outback stations for a hands-on adventure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily care and feeding of livestock, primarily cattle.
  • Participate in mustering, drafting, and moving cattle.
  • Learn and perform basic fencing, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment under supervision.
  • Assist with general station duties, including property maintenance and upkeep.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and animal welfare standards.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in a remote, challenging environment.

  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Excellent physical fitness and endurance for demanding outdoor work.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment.
  • A valid Australian Driver's Licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of agricultural practices.
  • Experience with horses or motorbikes (quads/two-wheelers).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn.
  • First Aid certification.
