Job Description
Are you a compassionate and empathetic individual looking for a rewarding part-time role? Opal HealthCare in Taree is seeking dedicated Elderly Companions to join our team on a day roster. In this vital role, you will provide companionship, support, and practical assistance to our elderly residents, helping them maintain their independence and enjoy a high quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and engaging companionship to residents, participating in activities and conversations.
- Assist residents with light personal care tasks, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Support residents with daily activities such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and errands as needed.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' health, mood, or behavior to the care team.
- Encourage residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Provide emotional support and active listening to residents.
Required Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for working with the elderly.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Empathy, patience, and a positive, caring attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of elder care needs and personal boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving, support, or companion role.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
