Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate AHPRA Registered Midwife to join our dynamic team in Port Macquarie. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a regional healthcare service, providing comprehensive midwifery care to women and their families throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, utilising your expertise to ensure positive birthing experiences and optimal maternal and infant outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care across the full spectrum of pregnancy, labour, birth, and postnatal care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care for women and neonates.
- Educate and support women and their families regarding antenatal preparation, childbirth, breastfeeding, and infant care.
- Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, general practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and professional development programs.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines set by AHPRA and NSW Health.
Required Skills
- Current AHPRA registration as a Midwife (RN/RM).
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in a variety of midwifery settings.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage complex cases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualifications in Midwifery or related field.
- Experience working in a regional or rural healthcare setting.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).
- Demonstrated experience in midwifery leadership or preceptorship roles.
