Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mould Maker to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Campbelltown, NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for the precise design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of moulds used in our plastics manufacturing processes. This critical role ensures the production of high-quality components and supports our operational efficiency and product innovation goals. You will work with a range of materials and machinery, contributing directly to the success of our product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate high-precision moulds and tooling from conceptual drawings or specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and modification of existing moulds to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Operate conventional and CNC machinery, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines, with proficiency.
- Conduct thorough inspections and quality checks on finished moulds and components, ensuring adherence to strict tolerances.
- Collaborate with design engineers, production teams, and quality control to identify and resolve moulding issues.
- Maintain detailed records of mould maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mould Maker or Toolmaker in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs.
- Strong understanding of material properties relevant to mould making (e.g., steel, aluminium).
- Competence in operating a variety of machine shop equipment (CNC, manual milling, grinding, turning, EDM).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to quality and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification as a Toolmaker or equivalent.
- Experience with plastic injection moulding processes.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD/CAM software for mould design and machining.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
