Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AO5 Project Lead to join our Environmental Protection Agency team on the Gold Coast. This pivotal role involves leading and managing environmental protection projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with state and national environmental legislation and policies. You will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, managing resources, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to the strategic objectives of the agency. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a significant impact on environmental outcomes within Queensland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex environmental protection projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery within scope and budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs, and presentations for senior management and external partners.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and departmental policies.
  • Manage project budgets, contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on environmental protection matters.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing project team environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Queensland's environmental legislation and regulatory framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
  • Formal qualification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Experience working within a government agency context.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural heritage and environmental practices.
