Job Description

This internship offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to gain hands-on experience in community development with a strong social impact focus. The Community Development Intern will support the coordination and delivery of various projects aimed at addressing local needs, promoting inclusivity, and enhancing community well-being in the Ballina region. This role is ideal for someone eager to contribute to meaningful change and develop practical skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, and social research within a dynamic non-profit environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community development projects and events.
  • Conduct research and gather data to identify community needs and inform program development.
  • Support the development and dissemination of project communications and promotional materials.
  • Engage with community members, local groups, and stakeholders to foster participation and collaboration.
  • Aid in the monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes, contributing to impact reports.
  • Provide administrative support to the community development team, including minute-taking and record-keeping.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas for social impact initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest and passion for community development and social impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a community-focused role.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of County Mayo.
  • Experience with basic data collection and analysis.
