Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Turf Farm Hand to join our team in Kalgoorlie. This active role involves a variety of tasks essential to the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of premium turf products. You will be an integral part of our operations, ensuring the health and quality of our turf from seed to delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (tractors, mowers, harvesters, irrigation systems).
- Prepare soil for planting, including tilling, fertilizing, and leveling.
- Plant, cultivate, and harvest turf according to established schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor turf health, identifying and addressing issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Perform irrigation tasks, ensuring appropriate water levels and system functionality.
- Conduct general farm maintenance, including fencing, weed control, and upkeep of facilities.
- Assist with loading and unloading turf products for dispatch.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve production targets.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate basic farm machinery or willingness to be trained.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a farming, landscaping, or horticultural environment.
- Experience operating tractors, forklifts, or other heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of turf varieties and their specific care requirements.
- First Aid certification.
