Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ESL Teaching Intern to join our team for a language school placement. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about language education to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic school setting. The intern will work closely with experienced ESL teachers, assisting with lesson delivery, student support, and curriculum development for our English as a Second Language students. This placement offers valuable professional development and exposure to diverse teaching methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead ESL teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons to students of various proficiency levels.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to ESL students, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and conversational skills.
- Help prepare teaching materials, visual aids, and classroom activities.
- Observe experienced teachers and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in assessment activities and monitor student progress.
- Support students in adapting to the school environment and Australian culture.
- Contribute to curriculum development and resource creation under guidance.
- Attend departmental meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native English proficiency
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for language education and cultural exchange
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of teaching methodologies
- Patience and empathy when working with diverse learners
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a TESOL/TEFL certification program or an Education degree.
- Previous experience volunteering or working with students, particularly non-native English speakers.
- Familiarity with the Australian curriculum or educational system.
- Knowledge of a second language.
