Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Theatre Nurses (Scrub/Scout) to join our dynamic team at a leading private hospital in Parramatta. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for surgical nursing to contribute to positive patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scrub and scout duties for a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operations, anticipating their needs and providing appropriate instruments and equipment.
- Conduct accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles with the circulating nurse.
- Prepare the operating theatre, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available and in working order.
- Monitor the patient's condition throughout the surgical procedure and communicate any concerns to the surgical team.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of patient care and intraoperative events.
- Participate in theatre staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous professional development.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and relevant legislative requirements.
Required Skills
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Minimum of 2 years' post-graduate experience in an operating theatre setting (Scrub/Scout role).
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of sterile technique and infection control principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or equivalent.
- Experience across a broad range of surgical specialities (e.g., orthopaedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT).
- Previous experience in a private hospital setting.
