Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated Medical Residency Interns for our Specialist Rotation program. This intensive program offers junior doctors an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various specialist medical fields within a leading private healthcare setting. Interns will rotate through different departments, working closely with experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams to develop foundational clinical skills, diagnostic abilities, and patient management strategies. This is a critical learning phase designed to prepare you for a successful career in medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in specialist clinical rotations as assigned, including internal medicine, surgery, emergency, and other specialties.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations under supervision.
  • Assist senior medical staff with diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including pathology and radiology, with guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and educational sessions.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies, procedures, and professional ethical standards.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.
  • Perform basic medical procedures under appropriate supervision.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree.
  • Provisional or General Registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or eligibility for such.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical knowledge and diagnostic reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a clinical setting (e.g., electives, observerships) highly regarded.
  • Evidence of participation in research or quality improvement projects.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certifications.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
