Job Description
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a keen ear and a passion for language? Netflix is seeking a dedicated Work From Home Caption & Subtitle Writer to join our global team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for creating accurate and engaging captions and subtitles for a wide variety of our streaming content. You will watch videos, meticulously transcribe dialogue, describe non-speech elements, and ensure perfect timing and synchronization. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe dialogue, sound effects, and music cues for various content types.
- Create timed captions and subtitles that are perfectly synchronized with the on-screen audio and video.
- Ensure adherence to Netflix's style guides and quality standards for all captioning and subtitling projects.
- Proofread and edit existing captions/subtitles for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and accuracy.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines while maintaining high quality.
- Utilize specialized captioning software and tools efficiently.
- Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with team members to improve workflows and quality.
Required Skills
- Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong listening skills and ability to discern dialogue clearly, even in challenging audio environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient typing speed and accuracy.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with web-based applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in captioning, subtitling, transcription, or translation.
- Familiarity with various captioning software (e.g., Aegisub, Subtitle Edit, or proprietary tools).
- Understanding of different subtitle types (SDH, hearing impaired, foreign language).
- Experience working with diverse media content (films, TV series, documentaries, animation).
