Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Imaging Technologist to join our dynamic and supportive team at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba. You will be responsible for performing a comprehensive range of medical imaging procedures, ensuring accuracy, patient comfort, and adherence to the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-ray, CT, and potentially other modalities such as MRI, ultrasound, or nuclear medicine, according to established protocols.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients throughout all imaging procedures, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns.
  • Operate and maintain medical imaging equipment, performing daily quality assurance checks and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Accurately position patients for imaging studies to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Maintain precise patient records and manage imaging data using hospital information systems (HIS) and radiology information systems (RIS).
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, medical specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Adhere strictly to all radiation safety guidelines, hospital policies, and professional standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, training, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with scheduling and patient flow to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Required Skills

  • Current registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Imaging or Radiography.
  • Proven experience as a Medical Imaging Technologist, with demonstrated proficiency in CT and general X-ray.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to diagnostic imaging.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining various medical imaging equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualifications or advanced certifications in a specialized imaging modality (e.g., MRI, Ultrasound).
  • Prior experience working in a private hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with various hospital information systems (HIS) and radiology information systems (RIS).
  • Experience in training or mentoring junior staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving clinical practices.
