Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Exploration Geophysicist to join our dynamic exploration team based in Devonport, Tasmania. You will contribute to the discovery and evaluation of new mineral deposits through the application of advanced geophysical techniques, under the guidance of experienced professionals. This role is crucial for our ongoing exploration efforts, providing foundational insights into subsurface geology and potential ore bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of geophysical surveys (e.g., magnetics, electromagnetics, gravity, seismic).
- Process and interpret geophysical data using industry-standard software packages.
- Contribute to the integration of geophysical data with geological, geochemical, and drilling data.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations summarizing geophysical findings.
- Participate in field operations, including site reconnaissance and quality control of data acquisition.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with geologists, engineers, and other team members.
- Continuously learn and develop expertise in new geophysical techniques and technologies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of fundamental geophysical principles and methods.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
- Familiarity with geophysical software (e.g., Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, Python for data analysis).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or project experience in mineral exploration or a related field.
- Knowledge of geological mapping and structural geology.
- Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for geophysical data processing.
- Familiarity with geological modeling software.
