Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory Compliance team in Perth. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures within a dynamic federal government environment. You will conduct investigations, assess compliance risks, provide expert advice, and contribute to the development of effective regulatory strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed investigations into potential breaches of tax and superannuation law, including gathering evidence and interviewing stakeholders.
- Assess compliance risks across various entities and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on complex regulatory matters to internal and external parties.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs, and recommendations for senior management and legal teams.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Liaise effectively with other government agencies, industry bodies, and professional organisations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all compliance activities and outcomes.
- Stay abreast of changes in legislation and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a regulatory compliance, auditing, or investigative role, preferably within a government or financial services context.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian taxation and superannuation law, or capacity to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities.
- Proven ability to conduct thorough investigations, gather evidence, and draw sound conclusions.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques for compliance monitoring.
- Professional certifications in compliance, auditing, or risk management (e.g., CAMS, CFE).
