Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Pharmacist to join our team at a local clinic in Gladstone, Queensland. This pivotal role involves providing expert pharmaceutical care, dispensing medications, offering health advice, and building strong relationships with our patients and the wider community. You will play a crucial part in ensuring safe and effective medication use, promoting health initiatives, and contributing to the overall wellbeing of our customers. This is an on-site position, integral to our local clinic’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Provide comprehensive medication counselling, including dosage, administration, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Conduct professional services such as vaccinations, medication reviews, and health checks.
  • Offer expert advice on over-the-counter medications and general health and wellness products.
  • Manage inventory, ensure stock rotation, and maintain appropriate cold chain storage for sensitive medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy assistants and interns, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Adhere to all legal, ethical, and professional standards and guidelines for pharmacy practice in Australia.
  • Engage with local healthcare providers to support integrated patient care.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Current unrestricted registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Proven experience in a community pharmacy setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical legislation and professional ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy dispensing software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Immunisation endorsement.
  • Experience with medication management programs (e.g., MedsCheck, HMR).
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
