Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Community Arts Officer to join our team and drive cultural initiatives across the Rural City of Murray Bridge. This pivotal role involves the development, coordination, and delivery of a diverse range of arts and cultural projects that engage our community, support local artists, and enhance our public spaces. You will work closely with community groups, educational institutions, local businesses, and artists to create meaningful and impactful cultural experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arts administration, project management, and community engagement, with a deep understanding of the unique cultural landscape of regional South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement community arts and cultural projects from conception to evaluation.
- Engage with community groups, artists, and stakeholders to identify cultural needs and opportunities.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Prepare and submit grant applications and secure funding for arts and cultural initiatives.
- Coordinate events, exhibitions, workshops, and performances.
- Facilitate partnerships between the Council, local artists, cultural organisations, and businesses.
- Promote cultural programs and events through various communication channels.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of projects, preparing reports and recommendations for future initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the Council’s cultural strategy and policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in arts administration or cultural project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with diverse community groups.
- Proficiency in budget management and grant writing.
- Understanding of local government processes and community development principles.
- Valid Australian Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Arts Management, Cultural Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience working within a local government environment.
- Knowledge of contemporary arts practices and cultural trends.
- Experience with marketing and promotion of cultural events.
