Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our team as Seasonal Honey Harvesters. This is a unique opportunity to work outdoors, learn about sustainable beekeeping, and contribute to the production of high-quality local honey. All necessary beekeeping gear will be provided, making this an accessible role even for those new to the field. The ideal candidate will be reliable, physically fit, and eager to work in a dynamic agricultural environment. This is an on-site, seasonal position with varying hours depending on harvest needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently harvest honeycombs from active bee hives following established protocols.
- Transport honey frames from apiary sites to the extraction facility with care.
- Assist with the uncapping and extraction process of honey.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all harvesting equipment and work areas.
- Support general apiary maintenance tasks as needed, including hive inspections and repairs.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and animal welfare practices.
- Work collaboratively with the apiary team to ensure a successful and productive harvest season.
Required Skills
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions (heat, humidity).
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, typically up to 50 lbs (e.g., full honey supers).
- Excellent attention to detail and a careful approach to handling bees and delicate equipment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Comfortable working in proximity to bees (with protective gear).
- Commitment to teamwork and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agriculture, farming, or outdoor labor.
- Basic understanding of bee behavior or a strong interest in learning about apiculture.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating light farm equipment.
