Are you looking to kick-start your career in a hands-on trade? CSR Limited is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Wood Machinist Assistant to join our team in Carnarvon. As a Wood Machinist Assistant, you will work alongside experienced machinists, learning the ropes of operating and maintaining various woodworking machinery. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled Wood Machinists in setting up and operating woodworking machinery (e.g., saws, planers, moulders).
- Load and unload timber materials, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work areas.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure product quality and identify potential issues.
- Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with quality control checks on finished timber products.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
Required Skills
- Strong desire to learn and develop new trade skills.
- Excellent attendance record and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- Reliable transport to and from our Carnarvon facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment (even basic).
- Forklift license or willingness to obtain one.
- Manual driver's license.
- Completed a VET course in woodworking or similar trade.
