Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Turf Layer Labourer to join our dynamic landscaping team in Werribee. This role is essential for the successful completion of our varied projects, focusing on preparing sites and laying turf to the highest standards. The position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to perform demanding physical tasks, often on weekends. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ground surfaces for turf laying, including clearing debris, levelling soil, and applying underlays.
- Unload, transport, and lay various types of turf according to project specifications.
- Ensure proper irrigation and initial care of newly laid turf.
- Operate hand tools and basic landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with general site clean-up and maintenance.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Perform tasks in various weather conditions, including working on weekends as required.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks, including heavy lifting (up to 25kg) and prolonged standing/bending.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of site safety practices.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or a similar physical role.
- Current Australian White Card (Construction Induction Card).
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Experience operating small plant equipment (e.g., plate compactors, wheelbarrows).
