Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Thermal Performance Assessor with a focus on housing to join our dynamic team in Oxford. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring residential developments meet and exceed current thermal performance standards and regulatory requirements. You will conduct detailed assessments, provide expert advice on design improvements, and collaborate closely with architects, developers, and construction teams. This position requires a strong understanding of SAP methodology, building physics, and a commitment to sustainable building practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations for new and existing dwellings.
- Conduct thermal bridge calculations and U-value assessments.
- Provide advice and guidance on energy-efficient design solutions to meet Building Regulations Part L.
- Liaise with architects, clients, and project teams to ensure compliance and optimise thermal performance.
- Produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and compliance reports.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving building regulations, industry best practices, and new technologies.
- Assist in developing and implementing sustainability strategies for housing projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SAP software (e.g., Elmhurst, Quidos, NHER).
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations Part L and associated guidance.
- Knowledge of building physics and heat transfer principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and construction specifications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accreditation as a CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor.
- Experience with Passivhaus or other low-energy building standards.
- Knowledge of dynamic thermal modelling software (e.g., IES-VE, TAS).
- Degree in relevant engineering, building services, or environmental discipline.
