Job Description

Liverpool City Council is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Animal Shelter Hand to join our team in Wavertree. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who have a genuine love for working with pets and are eager to contribute to their welfare. You will be responsible for the daily care and comfort of animals in our shelter, assisting with various tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily feeding, watering, and general care for all animals in the shelter.
- Clean and maintain animal enclosures, kennels, and general shelter areas to high hygienic standards.
- Assist with walking, exercising, and enriching the lives of shelter animals.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to senior staff or veterinary personnel.
- Assist with the admission and discharge of animals, ensuring proper record-keeping.
- Engage with potential adopters in a professional and helpful manner.
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal handling during examinations or treatments.
- Perform laundry duties and ensure all animal bedding and towels are clean.

Preferred Qualifications

- First Aid for Animals certification
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
