Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Student Medical Interns to join our Emergency Medicine team for a rotation. This is an unparalleled opportunity for current medical students to gain hands-on clinical experience within a fast-paced and critical care environment. Interns will observe, assist, and learn from experienced consultants, registrars, and nurses, developing foundational skills in emergency patient assessment, diagnosis, and management. This internship is designed to complement your medical school curriculum, offering practical exposure to a diverse range of medical emergencies and a chance to contribute to direct patient care under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Observe and assist medical staff in the assessment and management of patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Participate in ward rounds and patient handover sessions.
  • Learn to take comprehensive patient histories and perform basic physical examinations under supervision.
  • Assist with minor procedures, wound care, and other clinical tasks as directed by supervising clinicians.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and concisely in electronic health records.
  • Engage in departmental educational activities, including case presentations and teaching sessions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Support the medical team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to all patients.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited medical school program.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Commitment to patient safety and ethical medical practice.
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in Emergency Medicine.
