Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Stable Hand to join our team at Kandanga Valley Stud. This full-time regional position offers an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about horses and country living. You will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our horses, ensuring the stables and surrounding areas are maintained to the highest standards. Previous experience with horses is highly regarded. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily feeding and watering of horses according to their specific dietary needs.
- Clean and maintain stables, paddocks, and other equine facilities.
- Groom, rug, and prepare horses for daily activities or turnout.
- Assist with handling and moving horses safely.
- Monitor horses for any signs of injury, illness, or behavioral changes and report to management.
- Maintain equipment and tack in good working order.
- Assist with general property maintenance as required, including fencing and groundskeeping.
- Undertake basic first aid for horses when necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in horse handling and care (minimum 12 months).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of horse health and welfare.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal equine qualification (e.g., Certificate in Equine Studies).
- Experience with a variety of horse breeds or disciplines.
- Knowledge of stable management best practices.
- Competence in operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, quad bikes).
