Job Description

Are you ready for a hands-on, energetic role in the heart of Australia’s wool industry? Elders Limited is seeking a dedicated and physically fit Shed Hand to join our team in Stanthorpe. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-paced, traditional world of wool production. As a Shed Hand, you will be an integral part of the shearing team, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of operations from the pens to the wool press. This role requires commitment, teamwork, and a strong work ethic, offering an authentic Australian rural work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Penning up and managing sheep efficiently for the shearers
  • Skirting fleeces to remove belly wool, dags, and other undesirable sections
  • Throwing fleeces correctly onto the wool table for classing
  • Picking up fleeces promptly and ensuring they are presented well
  • Operating the wool press to pack wool into bales
  • Stenciling bales accurately with wool specification and shed details
  • Maintaining a clean and organised shearing shed throughout the day
  • Assisting with general shed duties as required by the shed manager or classer
  • Working safely and adhering to all animal welfare and workplace health and safety guidelines
