Job Description
Join the City of Sydney Council as a Pool Lifeguard for the upcoming summer season! We are seeking vigilant, skilled, and community-focused individuals to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons at our aquatic facilities. This seasonal role offers a fantastic opportunity to work outdoors, make a tangible impact on public safety, and be part of a dedicated team. You will be responsible for supervising swimming areas, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Actively supervise pool users to prevent accidents and ensure safety regulations are adhered to.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid/CPR as required.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area, equipment, and surrounds.
- Assist with the setup and pack-down of equipment for various aquatic programs.
- Provide clear instructions and friendly assistance to patrons, upholding high standards of customer service.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, daily checks, and pool conditions.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required by the Council.
Required Skills
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award or equivalent certification.
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent).
- Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
- Strong observational skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Pool Lifeguard, particularly in a council or public aquatic centre setting.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
