Job Description

Health Services Laboratories (HSL) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Entry Level Pathology Lab Assistant in Sale, Greater Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with no prior experience in a pathology lab, as comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you develop the necessary skills and knowledge. You will play a crucial role in supporting our scientific staff, contributing to the efficient operation of our laboratory and ultimately, patient diagnosis and care. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist scientific and technical staff with routine laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare samples for analysis, including labelling, sorting, and processing.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Monitor and manage laboratory supplies, assisting with inventory and ordering.
  • Follow strict health, safety, and quality control procedures.
  • Record and log data accurately and efficiently.
  • Dispose of waste materials safely and according to protocols.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Required Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry).
