Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our Medical Residency Intern program for a Specialist Rotation. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily ward rounds, patient assessments, and case presentations.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of medical conditions.
  • Perform medical procedures under supervision, including venipuncture, cannulation, and basic life support.
  • Document patient histories, physical examinations, progress notes, and orders accurately and timely.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Contribute to continuity of care through effective handover processes.
  • Actively engage in educational activities, including grand rounds, lectures, and departmental meetings.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required, under appropriate supervision.

Required Skills

  • MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Provisional general registration or eligibility for provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
  • Strong foundational knowledge in basic medical sciences and clinical medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of professionalism, empathy, and integrity.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new clinical environments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and patient safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior clinical experience through electives or voluntary work in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated interest in specific medical specialties relevant to the rotations offered.
  • Participation in medical research projects or audits.
