Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Grape Pickers to join our team for the upcoming harvest season at our vineyard in Palmerston, Otago. This is an excellent opportunity for backpackers, seasonal workers, or anyone looking for outdoor work in a beautiful setting. No prior experience is necessary – we provide full training. You will be an integral part of our harvest, ensuring the careful and efficient picking of grapes to maintain the quality standards Felton Road Wines is known for. The work is physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully hand-pick grapes according to specific quality guidelines and instructions from vineyard supervisors.
- Sort grapes during picking to remove any unsuitable bunches or debris.
- Handle grape bins and buckets, ensuring they are filled and transported safely.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area within the vineyard.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols.
- Work efficiently and productively as part of a team to meet daily harvest targets.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina for repetitive tasks and standing/bending for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, wind, rain).
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand (e.g., Working Holiday Visa).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in vineyard work or agricultural picking is a bonus but not essential.
- Access to reliable transport to and from the vineyard.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
